LIPE ART PARK TO BE THE SITE OF SPRING ARTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL

'Spring Thing' to Feature Performances, Food, and Interactive Workshops

(SYRACUSE, N.Y.) -- ®Evolution Studio and The Gear Factory Collaborative present The Syracuse Spring Thing Festival -- Celebrating Spring with the Arts on Saturday May 17, 2008 at Lipe Art Park on W. Fayette St. between Armory Square and Tipperary Hill. Sponsored by CNY Community Foundation, The Redhouse, and 40 Below, the free event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will feature unique performances, vendors, music and art.

Four piece alterna-pop band Merit from Syracuse, will headline the event in preparation for the release of their new EP produced by indie rock guru John Naclerio (My Chemical Romance, Brand New). Also performing are Jessy Chick, Aeyst, Jordan, Tots and others.

The Syracuse Spring Thing Festival will also include interactive workshops featuring button-making, a group mural, clay-pot painting and more (there will be a limited sign-up).

A variety of local food vendors such as Funk n' Waffles, The Kind Coffee Company, Roji Tea Lounge, El Tropicale, and Heavens to Betsey are preparing delicious delectables. And artists of every medium are converging to show and sell their creations.
